Cerys Matthews is to duet with the Manic Street Preachers.

The Catatonia singer and the 'Design For Life' rockers are planning to meet in a studio in their native Wales later this year and see if a collaboration will work.

Speaking at the Ivor Novello Awards in London yesterday afternoon (21.05.09), Cerys told BANG Showbiz: "I'm not going to get on stage with them but we're going to hook up at some stage this year to record something.

"They're busy with their tour at the moment, so it will have to wait a while. I definitely won't be joining them on tour!"

In the meantime, Cerys is eagerly awaiting the release of her new solo album 'Paper Planes'.

The 40-year-old songwriter added: "I've just finished recording it so I'm excited about it. I'm really looking forward to it coming out."

Cerys is also looking forward to her new radio show on BBC 6 starting.

She explained: "I'm very, very excited about the radio show. It's on Sunday afternoons and I'm so proud to be hosting it - it's the first proper job I've ever had!"
