One franchise that I thought for years ran its course in the late 80’s early 90’s, is the Halloween franchise. Honestly, two last two films; Halloween H20 & Resurrection were really bad. But it doesn’t seem to matter to the folks in Hollywood because now they are planning to make a ninth, that’s right I sad ninth film. This time around the film will be a prequel instead of a sequel. What that basically means is that it will be like the last three Star Wars films where they try to tell a story before the original film came out. Normally prequels don’t work and since this franchise has already lost all it’s steam, I have no desire what so ever to see it, but for those who do here is some dirt on the film. The ninth film is going to be called Halloween: The Missing Years. This project has been sitting on a shelf now for a few years after producer Moustapha Akkad died in last year’s terrorist attacks in Jordan. But even though there is no producer now, writer Jake Wade Wall has confirmed that the 9th film has been green lit. Wall states that the prequel will tell the story of Michel Myers’ life as a young man before he was placed in a mental institution. Yawn…but anyway Wall says that this project has been green lit two times before but never went anywhere. But he says now that the project is good to go and the studio executives backing the film are currently looking for a big name director for the film. There is no word on release date as of yet but if I had to guess, I would say this film will probably come out around Halloween 2007.
