It has been over six years since the invasion of Iraq, and since then both economic costs and costs in terms of loss of life have been increasingly large. The official reason for the war was due to weapons of mass destruction, however it has been mentioned by some that oil was a secondary if not primary motive for going to war. As Westerners we are forced to rely on the middle East for oil, and are forced to pay through our noses for oil by the Organization of Petroleum-Exporting Countries (OPEC). If influence was obtained over Iraqi oil fields huge economic benefits seemed likely. Although many condemn the war, it is certainly true that atrocities were being comitted by Saddam, Below is a quote from Gordon Brown which justifies New Labours decision to go to war.

"We should not forget that Saddam had used weapons of mass destruction against his own people, and that resolution 1441, which listed the weapons of mass destruction believed to be in Iraq, as agreed unanimously by the UN Security Council, made clear that compliance this time had to be full, unconditional and immediate."

So was war the right decision? Should we have pulled out earlier? And were the atrocities comitted by Saddam much worse than Iraqi civillian death counts?

Personally I can condone going to war in this case, but we have been there too long and one too many young Brits have been taken down by a roadside bomb and other forms of guerila warfare.

more iraqis have died in the six years america/bandwagon has been there than the entire time saddam was in power (unless those figures i saw were bullshit)

they've admitteed to knowing that they thought there probably wasn't going to be any weapons of mass destructions, and it became fucking apparent he didn't have any else he would of used them.

war was for oil, woulda been more economic to use the money to research different fuel sources

I think you're getting confused. New Labour is not a left-wing party, they are very much in the centre. So, don't start all this bullshit comparing far-right and far-left notions and ideologies in relation to this matter because it doesn't have any relevance, purely because political parties with such leanings were not in power when Iraq was invaded.

Well done. However, I seem to remember Tony Blair being a politican adhering to the political position of the third way, as is Gordon Brown. Now, if I remember correctly, that's a political ideology that fuses both left and right ideas.

What type of economy do we live under right now? A capitalist economy? Yes, yes we do. I seem to remember that being an economic system of the right, but I could just be mistaken. Don't be a complete idiot and base your entire opinion on new labour because they aren't a true left wing party. Condeming labour and some of it's policies would be like condemning your own political side.

I do agree with you though, the left are evil. As is the right. Infact, any extreme wing of the political spectrum is evil. So is any political party or system in between that. Politics is evil and they are corrupt as one another.
