what do your clothes say about u??
Hey peeps,
I'm doing some research for a project at university about girls aged 10-16yrs and how you girls use fashion.
I want to know what you think about fashion and why you love it or hate it.
I want to know what you think your clothes say about you and what you think other peoples clothes say about them!
Also if any of you can tell me if you read any magazines, which ones and why?
I'd be really gratefull if you could just post your thoughts on here!
Thanks!!

I'm over 16, but it wont do any harm.
I used to read Heat religiously for years, from about 12-15, but rarely read magazines now. They're all really over priced and pretty much everyone contains exactly the same content as the next. Fashion wise, they're constantly picking holes in celebrities, or picking out clothes which look seriously stupid and claiming they're the hottest thing around. I don't wanna pay £2.50 a week just to be told where Lindsay Lohan bought her $200 jeggings from tah.
Fashion wise, I can't stand overpriced, ridiculous looking clothes, which are only popular because they're the latest thing to be on a manequin in topshop. I find most of them are aimed at super skinny people, I'm a size 8-10, and can barely fit into half the clothes in topshop, even though the majority of my jeans are sized 8short and I shop in the petite section in most shops.
It doesn't really bother me what other people wear, it's entirely up to them. I admire people who always have immaculately fitting clothes, which always match and look great on them, and also people who stand out with their own style, but I can totally understand why some people just throw on the first thing they pull out of their draw.

Hey Becky,
I spoke to someone earlier for my research and something they said reminded me of what you were saying about heat.
They mentioned that they used to read heat mag but now they dont see the point cos they just criticise people, they raised an interesting point that maybe this sort of journalism is responsible for bullying amongst young girls, picking on each others appearance etc. Do u think girls can learn to jugde people on appearances from these mags?
Also, your one of the older girls that ive spoken to, now that u are a bit older and u can look back on ur early teen years can you tell me how much do u think u and your friends learned about "how to be a girl" from magazines and television? do u think magazines are like a handbook on how to be a girl? or do u think u just learn it through watchin older people who you aspired to be?
Thanks for replying x

I dont really care about fashion, i wear what i want. Usually i look like a slob but i make an effort if its an occasion or party and stuff.
I also hate overpriced stuff (as becky said), i wont pay £80 for a pair of jeans.
I wear whats comfortable, i dont go to trouble to get the latest fashion unless i genuinly love it anyway, and i dont really have the same type of clothes i like a range of stuff. Skirts, dresses, jeans, hoodies, etcetc,
I dont like it when people have the same fashion trend all at once, if you get what i mean, like the same style of top or shoes etc.
and i read TopOfThePops mag, and sometimes Bliss because i've ran out of stuff to read, i usually skip the fashion pages, kinda boring.

My clothes basically say that I'm lazy and need to wash and iron them more.
I miss my dad.

I read Reveal, New, Now, Love It, Ok Magazine.. Whatever is cheapest and catches my eye. I kind have a problem I can't just buy one, it's like four or none...and they all basically say the same thing, I also check out perezhilton, he's always accurate but he's mainl focused on american celbs..
Fashion wise, I like things that are bright, florals good too.
I love leggins, they're so comfy and match almost everything. I despise uncomfortable clothes. I don't tend to wear dresses or skirts, unless on occasion. And shoes wise I like Converse, the ruined looking boots everybody is wearing and my uggs!
I like flowy tops, that fit at the bust and flow down, things that can be worn with a cardigan..just basic casual clothing, but nice..
Ahh I hope this makes sense!
