A US man claims he found a condom in his French onion soup.

Zdenek Philip Hodousek is suing his local Claim Jumper restaurant in Santa Ana, California, over claims he bit into the used latex sheath instead of melted cheese.

He is suing the eating place for unspecified damages over fears he may have contracted a disease from the "foreign object".

Hodousek's lawyer Eric Taut said employees at the eatery should be forced to undergo DNA testing to discover who it belongs to.

However, restaurant bosses said there is no proof the condom came from the restaurant's kitchen.
