A blinded British soldier is able to see again - through his tongue.
Lance Corporal Craig Lundberg from Liverpool - whose vision was ruined by a grenade in Iraq in 2007 - can now read words, identify shapes and walk unaided thanks to revolutionary technology.
The BrainPort converts visual images from a tiny camera attached to a pair of sunglasses into a series of electrical pulses sent via a plastic lollypop which the user places on their tongue.
Lance explained: "It feels like licking a nine volt battery or like popping candy. It sees in black and white so you get a two-dimensional image on your tongue - it's a bit like a pins and needles sensation."
